Introduction
I make over half a million dollars a month with affiliate marketing. I’m gonna show you how to get started if you’re a complete beginner, and I’ll be going over on my computer a step-by-step way for you to go from zero to hero.
Getting Started with Affiliate Marketing
If you’re looking to start affiliate marketing and you are a complete beginner, first of all, I recommend you check out my introduction series to affiliate marketing. In this video, I’ll be showing you exactly how to get started.
Steps to Start Affiliate Marketing
1. Join an Affiliate Network
The first part of affiliate marketing is joining an affiliate network. This is where you find products you can sell or link to and make commissions from.
2. Choose a Product
The next step is finding a specific product that resonates with you and that you can make money with.
3. Promote the Product
Finally, you’ll actually go out there and sell it. If you’re a serious action-taker, I recommend going through all these steps in this video to start earning your first commissions right now.
Exploring Affiliate Networks
If we Google “affiliate networks,” we’ll find a ton of results. For example, looking up “top 10 affiliate networks that aren’t Amazon” shows networks like ClickBank, JVZoo, GiddyUp, ShareASale, and Avangate. Two great affiliate networks to start with are Amazon and ClickBank.
Joining Amazon’s Affiliate Network
Amazon is very easy to join. To do this:
- Go to Amazon’s website and scroll to the footer.
- Click “Make Money with Us” and then “Become an Affiliate.”
- Follow the instructions to join for free.
You’ll need a website, but a Facebook profile, YouTube channel, or other free platforms can work as your “website.” Note that Amazon’s commissions are small—for instance, selling a $20 book at 10% commission earns you $2.
Why I Recommend ClickBank
ClickBank is a more lucrative affiliate network. It’s been around for 21 years and is trustworthy. In the ClickBank marketplace, you can browse over 4,500 products. The commissions are higher, often ranging from $37 to $56 per sale. While I recommend starting with Amazon for practice, ClickBank offers better long-term opportunities.
Using Your Affiliate Links
How to Get Your Affiliate Link on Amazon
Once you join an affiliate program, such as Amazon, you’ll see an “Amazon Associates SiteStripe” bar when browsing products. Here’s how to get your link:
- Find the product you want to promote.
- Click “Get Link Text” to generate a short affiliate link.
- Share this link for others to click and purchase, which earns you commissions.
How Affiliate Links Work
Affiliate links contain tracking information that identifies you as the referring affiliate. This ensures you get credit for sales made through your link.
Promoting Your Affiliate Link
Digital Communication
You can share your affiliate links through various digital communication channels, such as:
- Email: Write a personalized recommendation for friends or contacts.
- Social Media: Use platforms like Facebook or Instagram to post recommendations.
- Comments: Engage with others on platforms like YouTube.
Example: Posting on Facebook
The Importance of Personal Recommendations
When promoting products, personal recommendations are far more effective than traditional ads. Ads can feel intrusive, whereas personal suggestions feel authentic and relatable.
